Urbio intelligence for crosswalks
CrossGuard Multi is a modular smart-crossing system built around three connected elements: the Hi-Vis pedestrian road sign with warning blinkers, the central NEMA control box with sensor, and one or more multidimensional LED luminaires.
At the center of the system is the NEMA controller—the component that makes CrossGuard genuinely intelligent. Depending on the project requirements, it can be equipped with LoRa, PLC, GSM and Bluetooth communication capabilities, and paired with either a Kamsens 7-in-1 multisensor or a radar sensor.
The Hi-Vis road sign provides active visual warning through its integrated blinkers. A backup battery pack maintains operation during a power outage, while an optional LED strip can provide continuous night-time illumination for increased sign visibility.
The lighting system includes at least one multidimensional LED luminaire and can be expanded with additional luminaires according to the crossing geometry, traffic volume and required lighting performance.
Connected to the Lighting AI platform via LoRa or GSM, the controller receives real-time sensor data and processes commands locally. It then communicates through PLC with the warning sign and lighting components, adjusting light output and, where the project configuration allows, colour temperature. This ensures optimal pedestrian-crossing visibility in changing traffic, weather and ambient-light conditions while improving road-user safety and reducing unnecessary energy consumption.

Using either the KAMSENS 7-in-1 Multi-Sensor or a radar sensor, CrossGuard accurately detects approaching vehicles and pedestrians waiting near or already crossing the road.

Automatic Crosswalk Lighting Adaptation
Configured in advance through Lighting AI, CrossGuard automatically applies the appropriate lighting response based on real-time sensor input, traffic activity, ambient light and, with KAMSENS, weather conditions.
Connected Intelligence
Controlled With Lighting AI
CrossGuard connects to Lighting AI through LoRa or GSM, giving operators a central platform to configure operating rules, supervise system status and manage adaptive crossing-lighting behaviour remotely.
When CrossGuard is equipped with the KAMSENS 7-in-1 Multi-Sensor, it can identify changing weather conditions such as clear skies, fog, rain and snow. The central controller uses this information to apply the appropriate lighting strategy, maintaining maximum pedestrian-crossing visibility in challenging conditions and helping drivers recognize pedestrians earlier.

The sensors integrated into Mesina are connected to the NEOS remote management platform to ensure full control, monitoring, and optimization of the lighting operation schedule based on vehicle and pedestrian traffic presence or weather conditions, either automatically according to predefined programs or manually as needed. The intensity and color of the light are programmed to change automatically to enhance visibility.
